From ensuring your house is safe before departure to keeping your bedroom ready for your arrival when traveling, here are some of our favorite automations and routines for Google Nest devices.
1. Brief Me
This routine provides you with updates on travel conditions for the next day.
Steps to set up:
- Navigate to the Get info and reminders in the Automations section.
- Select relevant options and set a trigger phrase.
- For use while on vacation, create a new routine, enter your destination, and stay informed about local weather and travel details.
2. I’m Leaving
This automation serves as a safety net, prompting you to finalize tasks before exiting.
Steps to set up:
- Create a routine with a trigger phrase.
- Choose Communicate and announce, then set Google to remind you of checks like turning off appliances.
3. Goodbye
This automation activates when you leave home, ensuring all devices turn off for safety.
Steps to set up:
- Create a new routine with the trigger set to Arrive/leave a location.
- Select Leave and set your home as the location.
- Choose devices to turn off and set thermostat preferences.
4. Water My Plants
This routine ensures your plants stay healthy during long trips.
Steps to set up:
- Set a timed action for plant watering at your preferred frequency.
- Link your smart irrigator to Google Assistant for automation.
5. Vacation Mode
This routine simulates occupancy to deter burglars.
