How to Silence WhatsApp Calls From Specific Contacts Without Blocking Them

How to Stop WhatsApp Calls From a Specific Person Without Blocking

If you want to avoid receiving calls from specific individuals on WhatsApp without fully blocking them, there’s a practical solution. By removing a contact from your list and enabling the “Silence Unknown Callers”feature, you can effectively mute calls from that person while still receiving their messages. Here’s a step-by-step guide for both Android and iPhone users.

On Android

  1. Delete the Contact:
    • Open the Contacts app and locate the contact you wish to delete.
    • Tap on the contact, then click the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner.
    • Select Delete, then confirm by choosing Move to Trash.
  2. Enable Silence Unknown Callers:
    • Open WhatsApp and tap the three-dot icon at the top right.
    • Select Settings and navigate to Privacy.
    • Tap on Calls and activate the Silence unknown callers option.

On iPhone

  1. Delete the Contact:
    • Open the Contacts app and select the contact you want to remove.
    • Tap Edit in the top right corner, scroll down, and select Delete Contact.
    • Confirm by tapping Delete Contact again.
  2. Enable Silence Unknown Callers:
    • Launch WhatsApp and tap Settings at the bottom right.
    • Go to Privacy, select Calls, and activate Silence unknown callers.

You can follow these steps for any additional individuals if needed. This method allows selective silence on calls while still keeping the communication lines open for messages. Note that even though calls from these contacts are silenced, WhatsApp will still notify you of them, though your phone won’t ring.

Additionally, it’s essential to mention that calling a silenced number won’t change your settings to mute future calls from that individual.
