Top 3 Solutions for YouTube TV Issues on Amazon Fire TV Stick
Basic Fixes
- Check the YouTube server status: Visit Downdetector to check for any active YouTube TV server outages.
- Restart the Amazon Fire TV Stick: Access Fire TV Stick settings, go to ‘My Fire TV’, scroll down, and select Restart.
- Disable VPN: If you’re using a VPN, open the app and click Disconnect to turn off the active connection, then reload the YouTube TV app.
- Update or reinstall the YouTube TV app: Go to Appstore, search for the YouTube TV app, and select Update. If that doesn’t work, uninstall and reinstall it from the Fire OS Appstore by navigating to the Gear icon > Applications > Manage Installed Applications.
- Update FireOS: Go to the ‘My Fire TV’ menu under Fire OS Settings, select About > Check for Updates.
Fix 1: Force Stop YouTube TV and Reopen
The YouTube TV app may experience glitches. Force-stopping the app can help refresh it and potentially resolve issues.
- Navigate to the Gear icon on the Fire OS home screen and open Applications.
- Scroll down and select Manage Installed Applications.
- Find the YouTube TV app, then select Force Stop.
Fix 2: Clear Cache and Data for the YouTube TV App
A corrupt cache or app data can interfere with the app’s functionality. Clearing them can help resolve these issues.
- Open the Applications menu and select Manage Installed Applications.
- Scroll down to locate and select YouTube TV.
- Choose Clear cache, followed by Clear data.
Fix 3: Check Connected Devices
YouTube TV allows streaming on a maximum of three devices at the same time. Exceeding this limit on connected devices can prevent the app from functioning on your Fire TV Stick.
- Open the Google Account page, click on Security in the sidebar, and select Manage all devices under ‘Your Devices’.
- Review connected devices, select any unnecessary ones, and click Sign out. After logging out, try accessing the YouTube TV app on your Fire TV Stick again.
